These are those obtained from oil seeds expressly authorized, and subjected to complete refining prior to their use as oils for human consumption. The authorized seed oils are: refined oil of: soybean, sunflower, peanut, cotton, safflower, corn germ, rapeseed, grape seed, seeds (coming from the mixture of two or more authorized seed oils) .
OLIVE OIL
It is the typical oil of the Mediterranean area and is obtained from the fruits of the olive tree, the olives. Virgin olive oil is obtained by mechanical means only and cold, while olive oil is a mixture of virgin olive oil and refined olive oil subjected to physical-chemical processes. From a nutritional point of view, the diet that uses olive oil is more advantageous than the diet in which seed oils predominate.
TYPES OF OLIVE OILS (Retail trade):
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL: Virgin olive oil with acidity no greater than 1
VIRGIN OLIVE OIL: Virgin olive oil with acidity not greater than 2.
OLIVE OIL: ~ Oil consisting of a blend of refined and virgin olive oil with an acidity of not more than 1.5.
OLIVE POMACE OIL: Oil made up of a mixture of refined and virgin olive-pomace oil with an acidity of no more than 1.5.
